Job Overview:
We are partnering with a leading Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance carrier to find a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to work with a reputable insurance company and contribute to the accuracy and integrity of their financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will play an integral role in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and supporting accounting functions within a dynamic and growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP).
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all entries and reconciliations are completed timely and accurately.
• Handle general ledger (GL) accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Support the preparation of regulatory filings and insurance-related reports, ensuring compliance with statutory and tax regulations.
• Maintain accurate reserves, premium receivables, claims liabilities, and reinsurance-related transactions.
• Provide support in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
• Assist in audits by preparing work papers and responding to inquiries from external auditors.
• Review and analyze various insurance-related financial data, including premium, claims, and expense allocations.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as underwriting, claims, and finance, to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist with the implementation and improvement of accounting processes and systems.
• Monitor accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or pursuing CPA certification is preferred.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, statutory accounting principles (SAP), and insurance accounting practices.
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (experience with [insert specific software] is a plus).
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with financial analysis, account reconciliations, and journal entries.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with reinsurance accounting and regulatory reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
