Job Summary:
Our globally successful client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant specialising in statutory reporting (Yellow Book) within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and submission of statutory financial reports, particularly in compliance with the Yellow Book guidelines and local regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in accounting practices, statutory reporting, and the unique financial structures of P&C insurance companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with the Yellow Book and other regulatory requirements for P&C insurance companies.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits, reviews, and other statutory examinations.
- Review, analyse, and reconcile financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Perform variance analysis, identify discrepancies, and provide detailed explanations for financial results.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable accounting principles and standards.
- Ensure internal controls are adhered to in preparation for external audits, and assist in resolving audit issues when necessary.
- Prepare required regulatory filings and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles within the Property & Casualty insurance industry (IDEAL)
- Strong background in statutory reporting (Yellow Book) and knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles.
- Experience with regulatory filings (e.g., NAIC, state insurance departments) and familiarity with the Yellow Book and other P&C industry regulations.
- Proven experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and other reporting documents.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles, including reserves, claims, and underwriting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficient in accounting software, ERP systems, and Excel (advanced functions).
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
