Oliver James has been exclusively retained by a leading insurer and reinsurer to identify an exceptional candidate for the high-profile position of VP of Strategic Initiatives.

This pivotal role offers the chance to work closely with the Group CFO and senior Finance & Accounting executives to drive transformative strategies, oversee critical projects, and deliver impactful financial communications. With responsibilities spanning finance business partnering, non-routine transactions, and key project initiatives, this is a career-defining opportunity for a seasoned professional.

Location:
The role offers remote flexibility, with travel requirements for essential engagements.

Compensation:
$300,000-$350,000 total package.


Your Key Impact Areas

  • Strategic Finance Enablement: Partner with the CFO on high-stakes initiatives, including acquisitions, integrations, and process improvement projects.
  • Executive Liaison: Act as a trusted intermediary for CFO communications, ensuring timely execution of deliverables across the Finance leadership team.
  • Insightful Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on regulatory, accounting, operational, and capital topics, providing actionable insights.
  • Ad-Hoc Financial Excellence: Lead financial modeling and analysis for M&A transactions and special projects.
  • Task Optimization: Develop robust task management systems to monitor and streamline key actions and deadlines.
  • High-Caliber Presentation Prep: Craft polished, executive-level materials for senior management and board presentations.
  • Investor Relations Management: Oversee the investor relations function, ensuring seamless coordination and impactful external communications.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A strong foundation in Accounting (5+ years) complemented by experience in project management, strategic initiatives, or corporate development.
  • Advanced qualifications such as a CPA, MBA, or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Industry expertise in insurance, with a preference for experience in life, annuities, or reinsurance.
  • Proficiency in advanced tools, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel (with a knack for creating impactful visual data representations).
  • Familiarity with Adobe and document management platforms, including secure board/management portals.
