Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to take on the role of Head of Distribution Strategy. This is a confidential and senior position that will be responsible for shaping and executing the distribution strategy across all channels for our global organization. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining the distribution model, optimizing the go-to-market approach, and driving the overall performance of our business in Asia.

As the Head of Distribution Strategy, you will work closely with senior leadership to drive the strategic direction of distribution channels, ensuring alignment with company goals, market trends, and customer needs. This role is critical to enhancing the company's market position and ensuring its sustainable growth in Asia.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development:
    Lead the development and execution of the company's overall distribution strategy across Asia, including both traditional and digital channels. Analyze market trends and customer needs to craft a compelling, future-ready distribution strategy.

  • Channel Optimization:
    Evaluate the performance and efficiency of current distribution channels (including agents, brokers, digital platforms, partnerships, etc.) and design strategies to improve their reach, effectiveness, and profitability.

  • Market Expansion and Penetration:
    Identify growth opportunities in existing markets and new markets, evaluating potential distribution partners, joint ventures, and collaborations. Lead efforts to drive deeper market penetration and achieve expansion targets.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Work collaboratively with the marketing, product, and operations teams to align distribution strategies with product offerings and customer segments. Ensure seamless coordination between departments to execute the strategy efficiently.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    Utilize market intelligence, performance metrics, and analytics to monitor the effectiveness of distribution channels and adjust strategies accordingly. Provide actionable insights to senior leadership for data-driven decision-making.

  • Innovation and Digital Transformation:
    Lead the development and implementation of innovative digital distribution models and solutions, keeping pace with digital disruption in the industry. Foster a culture of innovation within the distribution function to enhance customer engagement and experience.

  • Sales Performance Management:
    Develop frameworks to measure and improve the performance of distribution channels, ensuring that sales targets are met and exceeded. Identify areas for improvement and drive initiatives to enhance channel productivity.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Engage with key stakeholders, including senior executives, external partners, regulators, and industry bodies, to maintain strong relationships and promote the company's distribution vision and initiatives.

  • Talent Development:
    Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of the distribution strategy team. Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to enhance the team's capabilities and ensure high levels of engagement and performance.

  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    Ensure that the distribution strategy complies with local regulations and international standards. Monitor risks related to distribution models and mitigate any potential issues.


Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • At least 12-15 years of experience in distribution strategy, business development, or related roles within the financial services or insurance industries.

    • Proven expertise in managing multi-channel distribution strategies and driving growth across diverse markets in Asia.

    • Strong experience in leading cross-functional teams and working with senior leadership to execute complex business strategies.

  • Education:

    • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (MBA or equivalent is highly preferred).

    • Relevant industry certifications or qualifications (e.g., CFA, FLMI, or insurance-related certifications) are a plus.

  • Skills:

    • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex market dynamics and translate insights into actionable distribution plans.

    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

    • Deep understanding of distribution channels, digital transformation, and market trends in the Asia-Pacific region.

    • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and KPIs effectively.

    • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards within the insurance and financial services sectors.

  • Language Skills:

    • Proficiency in English is essential. Additional languages, such as Mandarin, Cantonese, or Bahasa, would be a significant advantage given the regional focus.
