A client of Oliver James is searching for a Finance Manager to join their financial reporting and controls team, the right candidate will be a fully qualified accountant and have 2+ years worth of post-qualified experience working within the insurance industry, preferably a broker.

They are offering a remote working arrangement with travel to their office in the south of England required once every two weeks.

Oliver James are partnering with a large scale Insurance Group in the search for a Finance Manager to join the broker side of their business. The company has large growth plans that will offer significant opportunities for candidates.
The role can be worked remotely, with travel required to the South East of England once every two weeks to attend their offices to meet with the wider team. On top of this they can offer flexible working arrangements and hours within reason to help suit your out of work life.
The role sits within the financial reporting and controls team, with a focus on statutory and regulatory reporting. Seeing a 50/50 split between focuses. Leading month-end process, including creating the monthly balance sheet pack, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, and monitoring the progress of associated actions.

What will they need from you?

  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts for the business
  • Support the Financial Controller in the maintenance of a robust control environment and the enhancement and testing of the financial control framework
  • Become the lead contact for external audit and facilitate the provision of information as required
  • Contribute to the production of regulatory reporting, including RMAR and others as required
  • Support with the preparation of accounting memos and different internal and external papers including Audit Committee, Executive Committee and Board papers throughout the year where relevant.
  • Provide adhoc support as required
  • Support system development, implementation and change to deliver process improvement and enhanced management reporting
  • Coach and develop other team members, leading by example and providing motivation within both Finance and the wider team.

The Ideal Candidate

As the Finance Manager within our Insurance Brokering business, you will be an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA-qualified accountant with demonstrable experience in the Insurance industry.

Other skills and experience include:

  • Line management experience and coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, managing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience and competence in external financial reporting, including preparation of statutory accounts
  • Able to challenge processes and assumptions, with a mindset for continuous improvement
  • Able to quickly establish credibility, winning the respect and cooperation of colleagues
  • High integrity and objectivity, capable of selling ideas and implementing change
  • Analytically strong with the ability to challenge and interrogate, facilitating the ability to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and pursue these through to a resolution
