About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join a rapidly growing insurance company within the Property & Casualty (P&C) industry. This is a remote role with the opportunity to lead and manage a small but highly effective accounting team. Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, you will oversee financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate financial statements and compliance with US-GAAP standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 3 accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of day-to-day accounting functions.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with US-GAAP.
- Manage the insurance-specific financial reporting process, including but not limited to, loss reserves, premiums, claims, and reinsurance transactions.
- Assist the Assistant Controller in the preparation of internal and external reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure the integrity of financial reporting processes and drive continuous improvement in accounting procedures and controls.
- Work closely with internal teams to provide financial insights, resolve accounting issues, and maintain accurate records.
- Review general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions to ensure compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations.
- Support the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with a strong background in insurance financial reporting.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, overseeing accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of US-GAAP and accounting principles, particularly as they relate to the P&C insurance industry.
- Preferred: CPA designation or in-progress (but not required).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with insurance-specific systems is a plus.
