Title: Software Engineering Manager
Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Type: FTE, Direct Hire
Base Salary Range: $140-150k

Our leading Insurance client is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager who will be pivotal in designing and implementing application solutions.

You will oversee the support and advancement of critical platforms, including workflow management tools, secure data transport systems, customer service software, communication management services, and financial clearing and settlement systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of application solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, testers, and deployment teams to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Partner with business users to analyze requirements and provide best-practice recommendations.
  • Manage application platforms, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Resolve complex system issues and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
  • Oversee project timelines, priorities, and deliverables to align with organizational goals.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system changes and processes.
  • Foster strong relationships across business and technical teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 6+ years of experience in application development, support, and implementation, including web services.
  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance domain, particularly annuities, life insurance, commissions, and financial transactions.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience fostering diverse, high-performing teams and evaluating staff performance.
  • Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and best practices.
