Senior Accountant

Overview:
A growing insurance company is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong GAAP accounting experience to join its team. This role will be responsible for financial reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory filings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries for insurance and investment activities (real estate and mortgage loans).
- Prepare and review bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of US GAAP financial statements, including footnotes, for non-insurance entities.
- Generate financial reports related to insurance or investment activities as needed.
- Contribute to quarterly and annual statutory reporting, including supporting schedules and exhibits.
- Assist with external audit processes, including statutory financial statement audits and HUD audits for real estate investments.
- Support regulatory reporting, including MD&A, RBC, AM Best, and SRQ filings.
- Respond to requests from auditors, rating agencies, and regulatory bodies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with investments, including real estate and mortgage loans, is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with general ledger systems and regulatory filings is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
