Lead Statutory Accountant
Growing Property & Casualty Insurer seeks Senior Statutory Accountant to join its finance team in the greater Schaumburg area. This is a full-time, hybrid position offering a chance to play a pivotal role in the company's growth trajectory while working closely with the Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in both US GAAP and statutory basis
- Contribute to quarterly and annual statutory filing submissions
- Manage accounting entries for gross and ceded reinsurance transactions
- Participate actively in the month-end close process
- Maintain and reconcile various balance sheet and general ledger accounts
- Help develop and formalize process documentation
- Conduct research on technical accounting requirements and brief management on upcoming changes
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of accounting experience in the Property and Casualty insurance sector
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, LOOKUP Functions)
- Minimum 2 years of experience with NAIC Statutory Filings
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional team management abilities
- A proactive approach to process improvement and efficiency enhancement
