Oliver James have partnered with a leading non-life insurer to appoint a Solvency II Accountant on a 12-month fixed term contract reporting into the Financial Controller.

This position will sit amongst the existing Finance team based locally and will have responsibility for the following day-to-day duties;

  • Assisting in the production of quarterly group and financial reporting as required;
  • Supporting end-to-end regulatory reporting process, including in particular the preparation and timely submission of the regulatory Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRT's) and National Specific Templates (NST's);
  • Working with Finance to source other data inputs into the Solvency II reporting process including information around areas such as receivables, investments and reinsurance counterparties;
  • Provide support to the Actuarial and Capital Management functions for regulatory and statutory reporting purposes;
  • Accurate and timely processing of reconciliations, including but not limited to general ledger, control accounts and sub-ledger feeds;
  • Preparation of files and documentation for internal and external audit, ensuring SOX compliance, liaising with Auditors;
  • Support the Controller and Chief Financial Officer with the production of ad hoc Finance exhibits and analysis, as required;
  • As part of a collaborative team effort, continue to seek ways to streamline and improve processes to bring increased efficiencies to the close process;
  • To contribute to promoting a strong control environment and to evidence the successful operation of controls;
  • To engage with other functional teams within the business including but not limited to Compliance, IT, Actuarial, Underwriting and Financial Planning & Analysis, as required;
  • Other ad hoc project work as required.

This position would suit an experienced accountant with a minimum of 5 years PQE and a solid understanding of the insurance industry (life or non-life) who wants to get exposure to process improvement and system implementation.
