Business Manager - Asset Management Firm

Role Overview

The Business Manager role encompasses two distinct areas of focus:

  1. Business-As-Usual (BAU) Responsibilities: Support the investment team by ensuring operational best practices, driving efficiency, and articulating value across the organization.
  2. Project Remit: Provide governance and ad hoc support for the implementation of a key investment system, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic objectives.

The role requires a seasoned professional with a balance of investment knowledge, operational expertise, and project management experience. They are seeking an experienced Business Manager to support their investment team and oversee key project initiatives, including the implementation of a new investment system.

Key Responsibilities



Business-As-Usual (BAU):

  • Value Delivery: Highlight and articulate the value added to individual entities, ensuring that the investment team's activities align with the organization's goals.
  • Best Practices: Drive the adoption of industry best practices, ensuring consistency and high operational standards across the organization.
  • Investment Team Enablement: Act as a trusted partner to the investment team, enabling seamless operations and removing obstacles to productivity.


Project Remit - Investment System Implementation:

  • Governance and Oversight: Support the governance of the investment system implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives.
  • Meeting Coordination: Prepare meeting packs, take minutes, track actions, and manage follow-ups to ensure project progress.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key liaison between the implementation team and the wider organization, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Provide hands-on assistance for various project execution needs to ensure successful delivery of the system implementation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Investment Background: Strong understanding of the asset management industry with prior experience supporting investment teams or operations.
  • Complex Organizational Experience: Demonstrated ability to navigate and succeed in large, federalized organizations with multiple entities and stakeholders.
  • Implementation Expertise: Hands-on experience with system implementation projects, ideally within the investment or financial services industry.
  • Project Governance: Knowledge of governance frameworks and the ability to manage project documentation and communication effectively.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and confidently to diverse stakeholders.
